National Teaching Shcool

NQT+ programme

Following the success of the NQT+1 programme, our next cohort of NQT+ is due to start in spring 2021. This programme aims to embed excellent teaching and learning.

There are 6 sessions with each taking place over 6 consecutive weeks. Courses will take place at either Bishop Gilpin Primary School or Poplar Primary School. The purpose of the programme is to provide teachers with the skills to develop and improve their potential. It is a very practical programme involving observations in classrooms and is aligned with the DfE Early Careers Framework.

We focus on identifying factors that create good/outstanding teaching and learning. The sessions are based on:

  • How children learn best
  • Assessment and evaluation
  • Questioning
  • Adaptive teaching
  • Managing behaviour
  • Early leadership

The sessions also include effective working with teaching assistants and creating purposeful and attractive working environments. Participants will need to work with a school-based mentor who will be asked to attend the final session in order to create an action plan.
